🥄 Ingredients

For the Cake

For the Hazelnut Frosting

Flour — 2 cups

Butter — 1 cup, softened

Sugar — 1½ cups

Powdered sugar — 4 cups

Ground hazelnuts — 1 cup

Hazelnut spread — ½ cup

Eggs — 3 large

Heavy cream — 3–4 tbsp

Butter — ¾ cup, softened

Vanilla extract — 1 tsp

Baking powder — 2 tsp

Vanilla extract — 2 tsp

Milk — 1 cup

Salt — ½ tsp

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, ground hazelnuts, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cream Butter & Sugar: Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–4 minutes).

  4. Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.

  5. Combine: Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

  6. Bake: Divide batter between pans. Bake 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Cool: Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

  8. Make Frosting: Beat butter until creamy, add hazelnut spread, then gradually add powdered sugar. Add cream until spreadable consistency.

  9. Assemble: Place one cake layer on serving plate, spread frosting on top, add second layer, frost top and sides. Garnish with chopped hazelnuts.

💡 Pro Tip: Toast your hazelnuts before grinding for an even deeper, more aromatic flavor. Let them cool completely before processing.
